MossWarner Communications is seeking an exceptional Account Director in the Chicago area who thrives in the fast pace of agency life to lead strategic client relationships. As the primary client engagement lead for accounts and projects, you will act as the internal client and subject matter expert for the client’s business. You will champion powerful business communications and drive account growth through consultative services and outstanding project delivery—always having the client’s objectives at top of mind.
This is a highly collaborative and hands-on role. The ideal candidate is someone who’s eager to roll up their sleeves and be directly involved in delivering work—whether that’s collaborating on a presentation or video, scoping out a leadership meeting, or driving the creative process forward. A background in corporate events, leadership communications, internal engagement, and change management is a definite plus, as many of our projects are rooted in these areas.
If you have a proven history of delivering impactful creative business communications solutions, cultivating strong client relationships, and effectively collaborating across creative, strategic, and production teams, this is an exceptional opportunity to lead accounts for some of the world’s most recognizable brands. Experience in CPG is highly desirable, although diverse experience across other service or product industries will also position you well for success in this role.
What You’ll Do:
- Act as the primary client lead, pitching new business, fostering strategic relationships, delivering insights, and ensuring MossWarner’s hallmark excellence in service and outcomes.
- Serve as the internal client advocate and subject matter expert, guiding internal teams with deep knowledge of client industries and objectives.
- Manage the account business; project delivery, financials, commercial negotiations, and lead strategic growth within existing accounts by identifying and pursuing new opportunities.
- Proactively contribute to day-to-day project execution, partnering closely with creative and production teams to ensure deliverables align with strategy and exceed client expectations.
- Develop strong networks within client organizations, showcasing MossWarner’s broad capabilities to current and prospective stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in agency account management with a track record of consultative client leadership and growth, ideally in consumer goods, technology, healthcare, or professional services (CPG/FMCG experience strongly preferred).
- A strong understanding of strategic business communications, professional media production, and the engagement lifecycle, working with large corporate clients.
- Experience or familiarity with corporate events, leadership communications, internal engagement, and change management.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to contribute to project execution when needed, especially in high-stakes or fast-turnaround situations.
- Demonstrated strategic acumen, confidently engaging C-level executives to solve complex business challenges through compelling communications.
- Exhibit agility in response to changing directives and troubleshoot effectively—always maintaining a positive demeanor and high level of respect for everyone involved.
- Exceptional collaboration and inspiration skills, effectively coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver premium-quality content and experiences.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the initiative to independently manage, grow, and innovate within your client portfolio.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
About the Role:
- Occasional travel 10%-20%.
- Compensation & Benefits: Salary—$118,000–$140,000
- The salary range for this position reflects several factors, including the market rate, budgetary considerations, internal equity, and the employee’s background, experience, and qualifications. Placement within this range for new employees will also consider the compensation of current or past employees in similar roles.
